Luanda - Businessman Paulo Rodrigues, sports agent of Angolan striker Gilberto Miguel aka “Gibelé”, stated that last January he presented two proposals to sign the striker from clubs in the Turkish First League, but were rejected by Petro de Luanda club, currently owning his pass.
The Portuguese professional explained that the first group that expressed interest was Ankaragucu, offering €300 thousand and 10% in the future sale, adding that Petro de Luanda also refused a proposal of €400 thousand and 10% in the future sale made by Sivaspor.
In a recent interview with the “sports newspaper”, Paulo Rodrigues discussed the player's future amidst the controversies linked to his removal from Petro de Luanda's squad in recent matches, despite having already been an unused substitute in Wednesday's victory against Sporting de Cabinda (3-0), for the 25th round of the first division National Football Championship (Girabola2023-24).
One year before the end of the contract, the businessman warns that Petro risk losing one of the important assets in the squad at zero cost, highlighting that so far “the club has not presented any proposal for renewal or improvement in salary, in a clear lack of recognition of the athlete’s value”.
“Gilberto has a three-year contract with Petro de Luanda, signed when he was still playing for Libolo. The values of the agreement were good at that time, mainly because no one believed that it would be important in the base team and that it would win titles. Gibelé deserves a salary update, according to his value at the moment", he stressed.
Regarding the controversies related to the 22-year-old player's conduct outside the field, the businessman explained that he has spoken to Gilberto in order to take extra care.
