Cairo – The Angolan Basketball club, Petro de Luanda defeat Cobra Sport Club of South Sudan, by 92-56, in a game of the second round of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), consolidating the leadership with four points.
In a match played at the Hassan Mustafa Halls Pavilion, the "tricolors" (Petro de Luanda´s nick name) won at half-time by 53-26, in a confrontation in which the coach José Neto gave time to some less used athletes in the debut and they overcame themselves.
In this respect, Aboubakar Gakou stood out, who in the previous match scored 7 points and today was the best of the team with 17, Jone Pedro who went from 8 to 10, Yanick Moreira from 6 to 14 and Jerson Lukeny from 4 to 12 pts.
In the opposite direction, captain Carlos Morais went from 23 to 6, Olímpio Cipriano from 12 to 6, and Childe Dundão from 11 to 2 pts, demonstrating that the team was based on the collective and not on the individual.
The Angolan team once again demonstrated good defensive posture with ball recoveries and not giving the opponent space to launch without opposition.
In the attack, the speed of the bases Childe Dundão and Gerson Domingos allowed the attackers to present themselves in a privileged position to score, usually from short distance. Casts long feathers when unopposed.
It didn't take such an effort for Petro to win the match, with the dominant Leonel Paulo entering the court for the first time just towards the end of the second quarter.
Petro prevailed in the first quarter by 37-13, in the second (57-31), in the third (77-40) and in the last (92-56).
Although the confrontation was easy, the performance of the Angolans on the field did not decrease in the face of a young team with talented athletes.
In the Cobra Sport Club of Sudan, Padiet Wang stood out with 15 points and Ajak Ajak with 9 points.
Today, in this Nilo conference, Zamalek won the Cape Town Tigers of South Africa, by 101-77, remaining in the second position also with four points.
Cameroon's Forces Armées Et Police took a break, but remain in third position with two pts.
