Luanda - Angolan judoka, Edimilson Pedro, lost this Sunday in the debut of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, due to disqualification, in the fight against Serdan Rahimov, from the Republic of Turkmenistan.

African champion, in the (-66) category, the national fighter was ahead of his opponent 30 seconds before the end of the fight, with Wazare (favorable score) and two Shido (faults), but as a result of the sequences of fouls he was disqualified in the third penalty.

In reaction to the elimination of the only Angolan judoka in the event, the president of the Angolan Federation of the sport, Hermenegildo dos Santos, in brief statements to ANGOP, stated that Edimilson Pedro was expected to win, because technically he had an advantage.

“But, as a result of the sequence of fouls, he was eliminated from his only fight in the competition to advance to the next phase. Now we need to reorganize our ideas and plan the qualifying rounds for the next Olympic Games”, he said.
