Luanda – The two former players of Angola's senior women's national handball team, Palmira Barbosa and Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, were honoured on Saturday in Luanda Province by the African Handball Confederation (CAHB).
The ceremony took place after the qualification of the Angolan national team for the 2024 Olympic Games, to be held in Paris, France.
Angola beat Cameroon 27-21 in a game of the third and final round of the Pre-Olympic qualifying tournament held in Kilamba multipurpose pavilion.
The two former African champions were honoured with a round of applause from the CAHB for their contribution to the development of the sport at national and international level.
The act of recognition is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the continental institution.
Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, former minister of Youth and Sports from 2017 to 2022, was replaced by Palmira Barbosa, who is the current incumbent.
