Luanda - The President of the MPLA, João Lourenço, Saturday in Angola's southern Huambo province, announced the start of construction of a football stadium before next August.
Speaking at a political event held on the outskirts of Albano Machado Airport, the President of the Republic of Angola said that it was not normal that there should be a large stadium in a province with tradition in the sport.
"Huambo deserves it. Huambo has a football tradition. We all know the great glories of football in Huambo," he said.
The province has 783 fields, two stadiums, nearly 30 multi-sports courts, five multi-use pavilions and 13 fitness centres, spread across the 11 municipalities.
These are the Recreativo da Caála stadium, inaugurated in 2013, owned by the club of the same name, and the Kurikutelas, inaugurated in 1947, owned by Ferrovia do Huambo.
