Luanda – The First Lady of Angola, Ana Dias Lourenço, on Saturday, highlighted the importance of the communitarian development program "ReviangAngola", of which she is one of the sponsors, as a good way to disseminate basketball at all age groups nationwide and help it to return to African titles.

Speaking to the press following the re-inauguration of the Vila Clotilde basketball Club Pavilion in Luanda, the First Lady highlighted the importance of the development program, which enabled the refurbishment of the building.

ReviangAngola, a program in which the Angolan Basketball Federation and the Ngana Zenza Foundation are also partners, is aimed at helping Communitarian  Development, an initiative of the First Lady, and should initially cover the province of Luanda and then the rest of the country.

Ana Dias Lourenço underlined the importance of providing training with proper infrastructure, having appealed to people of good will, especially those who could help in the area of social responsibility to join it.

"For everyone who can participate, join the program and the First Lady, as godmother, for the necessary support so that we can spread basketball and pavilions not only in Luanda," she said.

The First Lady spoke of the need for more sports facilities, since former champions are available to provide training, citing as examples former internationals Miguel Lutonda, Maria Barbosa and Herlander Coimbra, all of whom were present at the event.

Ana Dias Lourenço said that the reopening of the pavilion is a milestone in terms of development, adding that during the presentation matches played between the home team (Vila), Ferroviário and Formigas do Cazenga she had noticed some talented young people.

Clube Vila Clotilde was founded 71 years ago. The club participates in several sports activities such as fencing, golf, karate and basketball, the latter being the sport of choice. MC/AMP
