Luanda – The visually impaired - T11 class sprinter, Juliana Moko, has become the newest athlete of the Angolan Paralympics Committee (CPA) to be sponsored by the British oil company (BP-Angola).
The contract was signed on Thursday, in Luanda by the vice-president for Legal Affairs of the institution, Francisco Simão, and the athlete, flanked by the head of the CPA, Leonel Pinto and Augusta Rodrigues, respectively.
The activity also had the objective of presenting the National Team for the Paralympic Games in Tokyo (Japan).
With the integration of this specialist in the 100, 200 and 400 meters, the number of athletes represented by the sponsoring institution rises to four, after Regina Dumbo (T11), Esperança Gicaso and José Armando Sayovo, the latter a lifetime ambassador.
During the four-year contract (Paralympic cycle), the athletes benefit from a biannual financial and logistics aid for preparation before competitions.
In return, they must participate in the oil company's activities, as well as promote the BP-Angola brand in domestic and international competitions.
The partnership between the two organizations began in 2012 on the occasion of Angola's participation in the Paralympic Games held in London, where José Sayovo won gold medals in the 100, 200 and 400 meters and respective records.
The Paralympic Games are an event for disabled athletes, held after the Olympic Games, in the same country, same sports facilities, same cities and same Village (Olympic and Paralympic).
