Luanda - The National Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) team in seniors holds the 3rd position in the world ranking of the sport, according to data recently released by the International Federation (IMMAF).
A note from the Angolan Mixed Martial Arts Federation (FAMMA), sent to ANGOP, states that, “with great pride”, the country's team has 9,796 points, behind Bahrain, which leads with 18,875, and Kazakhstan, in second place, with 13,582.
For the lower category, the junior team ranks fifth in the world ranking, with 6,788 points, with the leader in this category being Ukraine, with 16,490 points, followed by Tajikistan, with 12,827 points.
Angola continues to dominate the sport on the African continent, ranking number one in all categories - youth, junior and senior, as a result of consecutive victories in the continental championship.
In the last edition of the African Championship, held in June in the Republic of Namibia, the Angolan team retained its title of champion, winning 53 medals, of which 22 were gold, 19 silver and 14 bronze.
After the youth team's participation in the Abu Dhabi World Cup last August, where it won five (5) medals (one gold and four bronze), the junior and senior teams are preparing for the Uzbekistan World Cup, which will take place from 5 to 10 November this year.
The goal of the National Team is to improve the classification achieved in the last World Cup, held in Serbia.
The Angolan team's training sessions take place from Monday to Saturday at the Eleison Gym, in Luanda.
