Luanda - The Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, on Thursday considered the coming of the Argentine national team to Angola, to face the Palancas Negras, a stimulus to football and sport, in general, which will go down in the history of 50 years of independence.
Reacting to President João Lourenço's announcement about the arrival of Leonel Messi's team, as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Independence, the minister said that the agreement is already signed and now work will be done on the details, especially the date of the friendly match.
He said it is a cycle that is intended to be maintained until the 2025 CAN, to be played in the Kingdom of Morocco.
'We have a goal to achieve and we are working towards it. We want to relaunch the national team in everything that is international sports areopagus. We are doing our part,' he said in statements to the press.
In justifying the invitation to Argentina, he stressed that it is the reigning world champion and a team of this level is 'for us a tremendous stimulus, so it will go down in history for 50 years'.
He assured that the work is already underway to create all the conditions for the reception of the Argentines.
'Therefore, it is very good for all of us, as Angolans, to have the world champion here with its main names. That's what we worked for and I hope it happens as we predicted,' he said.
The coach of the national team, Pedro Gonçalves, also considered the arrival of the number one team in the world ranking a stimulus.
'It is a great stimulus that then, obviously, we want to monetize it in the construction of the classification objectives we have. Therefore, we have to prepare for it', he said. ART/DOJ
