Luanda – Angola’s minister of Youth and Sports Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto Monday recognised the influence of the chess in the evolution of the player's cognitive capacities, mainly at a early age.
The official said that the more students, teenagers and young people getting involved in the sport in Angola the greater will be the intellectual capacities, as it is the goals of the Government.
Ana Paula Neto, who was speaking at handover ceremony of the National Flag to the chess team of both genders, who will take part in the Olympics on 26 July-10 August in India, said that she hoped the team’s participation dignify the name of the country.
In turn, the president of the Angolan Chess Federation (FAX), Tito Martins, considered the minister's presence and the handover of one of the national symbols an incentive to the delegation.
At the event, to be held in the Indian city of Chennai, Angola eye to qualify among the top three in Africa, among more than 180 countries competing in the event.
The Angolan delegation to the event is headed by the president of the governing body (Tito Martins), who from 7 to 9 August will participate in the Congress of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), accompanied by vice president, António Assis.
