Luanda - Angola´s Ministry of Youth and Sport and the French embassy in Angola on Wednesday in Luanda, discussed the country's participation in the Olympic Games to take place in Paris, France from 24 July to 11 August this year.
During a meeting that the Minister for Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, had with the French ambassador, Sophie Aubert, they discussed the preparations for the Angolan delegation to the event, which is being held for the third time in the city of Paris, after the 1900 and 1924 editions.
The meeting, which was also attended by the president of the Angolan Olympic Committee, Gustavo da Conceição, also discussed registration, as well as the usual parallel activities both in the country and in France.
At the end of the audience, Sophie Aubert, said that the meeting had been productive and that it had been important to see the organisational work that had already been done, especially in relation to the delegation's arrival time at the event.
Swimming, athletics, canoeing and handball are already guaranteed to take part by participating in qualifying tournaments.
The diplomat said that she is closely following the performance of the National Football Team, which has qualified for the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations AFCON`2023, which is taking place in Côte d`Ivoire.
Sophie Aubert said that she is supporting Angola at the continental event, where it faces Nigeria on Friday for access to the semi-finals.MC/MRA/DOJ
