Luanda - Angolan International Master (IM) Sérgio Miguel on Thursday beat Swiss Grandmaster (GM) Sebastian Bogner, in the second round of the 45th edition of the Chess Olympiad, which is being played until the 23rd of this month, in Budapest, capital of Hungary.

Sérgio Miguel (MI), with an international game strength of 22241, on the first board, managed to overcome the Swiss GM with a link greater than his 2545.

On the same path, in women's individual international master (IM) Esperança Caxita (2037) also beat the Uzbekistan Grand Master (GM), Nilufar Yakubbaeva (2248), on the second board.

Regarding Angola, as a team they lost both in male and female category, 3-0, in men's matches against Switzerland and women's matches against Uzbekistan.

The National team is made up of MI David Silva, MI Catarino Domingos, Mestre FIDE (MF) Domingos Júnior and National Master (MN) Gabriel Sapalo.

The female class is made up of MI Esperança Caxita, MF Jemima Paulo, MF Ednásia Júnior, MF Luzia Pires and Expert (E) Felícia Felicidade.

With this result, Angola is in 75th position with five (5) points, in men. Poland with eight (8 pts).

In the female category, Angola occupies 82nd place, with five (5 pts). India is the leader with eight (8).
