Luanda - The match between hosts South Africa and Mozambique, to be played on Wednesday at 5pm at the King Zwelithini stadium, was the highlight of the quarter-finals of the COSAFA Cup.

The South Africans are the holders of the trophy they won in 2021 after beating Senegal (1-0) in the final, while the Mozambicans finished fourth after defeating Eswatini (1-2).

Due to these results in the previous edition, both teams started competing only in this second phase of the competition.

However, the quarter-finals kick-off this Tuesday with the Madagascar-Namibia (2pm), Zambia-Botswana (5pm) matches at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

On Wednesday, at 4pm, Senegal-Eswatini clash.

The winning teams from these four matches go through to the semi-finals, while the losers contest the qualifiers from 5th to 8th place.

The final will take place Sunday (19h) at the Moses Mabhida stadium.

Angola ended their participation in the group stage (A) by losing against Botswana, 0-1, in the last round of the A series, after consecutive wins over the Comoros (3-1) and Seychelles (3-0).

After debuting in 1998, Angola won the COSAFA Cup in 1999, 2001 and 2004.
