Luanda - The Angolan athlete André Matias qualified Tuesday for the “F” final of the rowing competition at the Olympic Games in Paris (France).
The athlete achieved a time of 8:01.63 in the single skiff specialty, finishing in 4th position, which gives him access to the “F” final, a consolation stage useful only for positioning in the World Ranking.
The event is scheduled for next Friday at the Île-de-France Nautical Stadium in Vaires-sur-Marne.
In the play-off, in the individual 2000 meters, the athlete finished in the top two in his series.
Earlier, on Saturday, André Matias didn't get any further than 7th place, with a time of seven minutes and 58 seconds.
The athlete has already competed in the London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games.
As well as rowing, Angola is taking part in France with canoeing, swimming, sailing, judo, athletics and women's handball.
