Luanda - The Secretary of State for Sport Teresa Ulundo on Friday called in Luanda for sports journalists to have the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) card, as a way of facilitating their work.
The request was made during the symbolic handing over of six cards by the Angolan Sports Press Association (AIDA) to its members who have paid their dues.
According to Teresa Ulundo, obtaining this card brings benefits to journalists, especially when they are covering major international events, and they can enjoy discounts on services such as hotels and transport, among others.
The Secretary of State was pleased to see that opinion makers have better dignity, work skills and access to information sources.
She said that it is the intention of the Ministry of Youth and Sports to contribute to the professionalization of sports journalists to improve their work duties.
The vice-president of AIDA, Vaz Kinguri, on his turn said that as a result of the work done with AIPS, it is now possible to hand out the first licenses, which is a source of pride and satisfaction on the part of the journalistic class.
He also called on journalists to give their full support in the process of handing in their cards, because they cost money to obtain.
AIDA has approximately 180 members, 60 of whom are eligible for the card, since their membership fees are up to date.
