Cazenga – The Provincial Government of Luanda (GPL) is working to find the best mechanisms to support adapted football, with a view to improving the practice of this sport in the country's capital, according to the vice-governor of Luanda for the economic sector, Jorge Mingues.
Speaking to the press, during the opening act of the second edition of the adapted football tournament called 'Mão Boll', he acknowledged that this sport has already conquered its space, but with the support of the GPL, it will certainly reinforce the preservation of the championship of this modality.
Jorge Mingues, who was speaking as part of the celebrations of the 30th edition of the Cazenga popular festivals, marked on the 9th of this month, hoped that the competition would serve to strengthen the process of social inclusion in Luanda.
The vice-governor said that teams must compete firmly, resiliently and believe in their potential, to find the best in the next tournaments of the sport.
He acknowledged the persistence of a group of young people who, seven years later, fulfilled their dream of practicing the adapted sport Mão Boll, a sport currently practiced in the provinces of Luanda, Benguela and Bengo.
The adapted football tournament has four teams, namely 'Brilho Sol de Viana', 'Vitória dos Cuanzas', 'Dezanove do Cazenga' and 'Fortaleza da Maianga', which for three weeks will play in the round-robin system. The first edition took place in 2022.
Mão Boll adapted football is a sport practiced by people with physical disabilities of the lower limbs.
