Luanda – Angola is to host from September 11, 12 the first edition of the International Pairs Golf, the biggest amateur tournament in the world.
Presented in the country's capital during a press conference, the event's director, António Louro, said the tournament will gather 40 teams, in a total of 80 golfers.
Besides bringing more competition to the Angolans, Louro said, this will help to create goals for the players, such as to represent the country abroad.
Angola will be hosting the competition until 2024, a license won by Fazenda Mangais, being a guarantee to keep the regularity of the competition.
The tournament will select the Angolan amateur duo that will represent the country in the World Championship, to be held in Portugal from 26 to 30 September with the presence of 50 countries.
According to Louro, the aim is to create a competition in an environment where all amateur players have an opportunity to compete at world level, based on fair and verified criteria.
