Luanda - The game between Petro de Luanda and 1º de Agosto, considered the main classic of Angolan football, is only scheduled for the 13th round of the 45th edition of the first division National Championship called Girabola2024/25, in Luanda.
The main Angolan football competition kicks off on September 13th, with matches taking place in various stadiums across the country.
In addition to this “derby” in the country's capital, which will pit the Angolan champion against the sixth-placed team in the previous competition, the draw by the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), held on Tuesday, on Girassol television station, also directed Sagrada Esperança (runner-up) and Kabuscorp do Palanca, for the opening round.
Likewise, in the first round, Interclube will play Desportivo da Lunda Sul (3rd place), in Luanda, Petro de Luanda faces Desportivo da Huíla, 1º de Agosto against Santa Rita de Cássia do Uíge, Bravos do Maquis plays with Isaac de Benguela's team and Recreativo do Libolo to face Académica do Lobito.
In the same vein, São Salvador do Congo, from the province of Zaire, will face the Luanda City Football Club, which will debut in the competition, while Williete de Benguela plays Carmona Sport Clube do Uíge.
The event, held for the first time outside the FAF headquarters, also set the game between Petro de Luanda and Sagrada Esperança (12th round), as well as 1º de Agosto to face Kabuscorp (15th).
