Luanda - The 46th edition of the "Girabola2023-24" National First Division Football Championship will start on the 28th of this month, after two successive postponements, according to a statement released on Thursday by the Angolan Football Federation.
Initially scheduled for 28 or 29 September, the country's biggest football competition was rescheduled for 13 October, and now has a new date, set by the governing body's Technical Council.
The document to which ANGOP had access considers the draw for the competition held on 31 August to be valid, with the highlight match being the "classic" 1st of August - Petro de Luanda, to be played at the Coqueiros stadium.
The Escolinha Issac team from Benguela will miss out on the championship, having failed to provide proof of financial capacity.
The championship title is held by Petro de Luanda. MM/DAN/DOJ
