Luanda - The Angolan national gymnastics team will compete in the African Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, taking place on 23-24 April in the Republic of Rwanda.
For this operation, the squad is made up of 15 pre-selected athletes of high sporting level, with Luana Gomes, Sofia Higino, Elizabeth Manguino, Aicha Morgado and Florença Missende standing out, all of whom have participated internationally.
According to the technical director of the Angolan Gymnastics Federation, Agostinho Sungo, the group will have two phases of preparation, starting on the 26th of the current month in Moçâmedes City, Namibe, with a 30-day training camp.
The National Team will finish their pre-competition training with another ten days of work in the city of Aveiro, Portugal.
The African rhythmic gymnastics competition is contested in the specialities of rope, ribbon, hoop, ball and mallet.
Angola took part in the last edition, held in 2023 in Moka, Mauritius, where Luana Gomes won two gold medals and the same number of silver and bronze medals, finishing runner-up overall.
This event will also qualify for the Olympic Games, which will take place this year in Paris, France.
