Luanda - Angola gymnast Luana Gomes is seeking to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games during the World Championship of the category (rhythmic gymnastics) scheduled for August 23-27 in the Spanish city of Valencia.
According to the technical director of the Angolan Federation, Agostinho Sungo, the athlete is the only representative of the country qualified for this edition.
The athlete's pass to the world owed to the exhibition in the African held this year in Moka (Mauritius), where she won six medals, two gold, two silver and the same number of bronze.
In the last world cup that took place in Sofia, Bulgaria, the Angolan reached the 71st position among 77 competitors.
This is the fourth time that Luana Gomes participates in world competitions. At her debut, in 2019 (Azerbaijan), she ranked 102nd, as well as compatriot Alice Tomás, who was last (116th).
In 2021, in Japan, she was the only ''Angola ambassador'' and ranked 60th among 61 opponents. JAD/FN/CF/NIC
