Luanda - The achievement of two silver medals and one bronze in the World Judo Championship, recently concluded in Casablanca, Morocco, was highlighted by the vice-president of the Angolan Judo Federation (FAJ), Josimar Frederico.
When evaluating the behavior of the Angolan representatives, both male and female, in the competition, which took place from the 7th to the 10th of this month, the FAJ official stated that the country's judokas were determined to obtain the silver (2) and bronze (1) medals and place themselves in third place, by teams.
“Our judokas had a very positive progression, especially in the women’s category. There was great performance and determination, which allowed us to reach the podium and represent our country well. Therefore, we will continue to work, so that we have better results next time”, he said.
In this competition, the achievements of the Angolan team were those of judokas Neide Diassonema Mucungui, with the silver medal, in -63 kg, Maria Niangi, also silver, in -70 kg, and Andreza António, in bronze, in -57 kg Egypt was the winner of the African Championship.
The national delegation, which returned to the country today, is made up of Edmilsom Pedro (-66kg), Elwis Teixeira (-73kg), António Candeiro (-73kg), Wilson Bimbi (-81kg), Adriano Tchissende (-90kg), Sílvio Jorge (-100kg) and Piter Silva (+100kg), in men.
Andreza António (-57kg), Geovana Freire (-57kg), Neide Diassonema Mucungui (-63kg), Maria Niange (-70kg), Aicha Rebeca (-78kg), Crislayn Rodrigues (+78kg) and Joaquina Carlos (+78kg), in females, they complete the group.
Also part of the delegation were coaches Joaquim Riveira (male) and Helder Camindo (female), directors Hermenegildo dos Santos (head of mission), Josemar Frederico (deputy head of mission) and referee Didier Bopore (continental).
