Luanda – The Angolan Football Federation (FAF) announced that from the 2024/2024 season scheduled to start this weekend, only coaches with a minimum licence from the African Confederation (CAF) will be hired to officiate teams in national competitions.

According to the document, through the statement No. 31/SG/24, the decision expresses the effort of the institution in improving the quality of the football in Angola, as well as to reinforce the need to train professionals who run the clubs.

The note published by FAF highlights that the measure should not include only the main coaches but also the assistants from the 16 clubs registered to compete in the National Tournament (Girabola).

With the implementation of this procedure, FAF wants to link the National Tournament with the international competitions standards such as the Africa Champions League and the Confederation Cup.

The certificate (CAF C Licence) is the first significant step for coaches who wish to build a solid career and is considered a basic requirement to develop leadership skills, tactics and strategies.

The new FAF rule will force clubs to review their coach choices. Teams that have coaches without a CAF C License will act quickly to regularize the situation, otherwise they will be prevented from guiding at Girabola games.

The biggest event in Angolan football, initially scheduled for the 13th of this month, has its first game set for Wednesday with a match between Bravos do Maquis and Isaac de Benguela.

To recall that Bravos do Maquis is involved in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The defending champion Petro de Luanda, is in the African Champions League.
