Luanda - The outgoing chairperson of the Angolan Olympic Committee (COA), Gustavo Dias Vaz da Conceição, was "invited" by the organization's executives to remain in office until the Olympic Games next August in Tokyo (Japan).
During an Ordinary General Assembly, held last Saturday, at the Cidadela complex, in Luanda, the participants decided to vote against Gustavo da Conceição's intention to no longer run in the elections initially scheduled for March.
In view of pronouncements about the disadvantage of electing a new team since the entire program for the Olympic Games was organized by the outgoing group, while others were defending the election already, it was decided to vote.
In this democratic exercise, 45 executive members, out of a population of 69, voted for the former basketball player to remain until December 11, a new date indicated for the renewal of his mandate, therefore after the Japanese event.
In the General Assembly, the Electoral Commission was already elected, composed of seven elements under the leadership of Olinda Maria França (chairperson) and Luzia Tadeu Major (vice chairperson).
The Angolan Olympic Committee members also approved the 2020 report and accounts as well as the budget and plan of activities for 2021.
