Luanda – The International Master (IM) Erikson Soares scored two victories on Monday, in Luanda Province, in the double round of the "Sonangol 48 years" rapid chess tournament, which is taking place at the institution's headquarters.
The unified event, which is played using the Swiss system, in seven rounds, at a pace of 10 minutes plus three seconds for each player to finish the game, is on the calendar of the Angolan Chess Federation (FAX).
In this double round, IM Erikson Soares beat Specialist (E) Alexandre Próspero and Jaime Sonhy respectively, thus taking the lead in the tournament with two points.
Another IM David Silva, beat Fide Master (MF) Domingos Júnior in the first round, and in the second round he once again defeated MF Eduardo Pascoal, occupying second place also with two points.
The competition, which runs until Wednesday, features 20 of the country's best chess players.
