Luanda – The Digital Satellite Television DSTV-Angola on Thursday said it has signed a partnership agreement with South Africa’s New World TV that will enable it to broadcast the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN`2023) to kick off Saturday in Côte d`Ivoire.
According to a statement from the DSTV-Angola, since the agreement has only been signed at the beginning of this week, it is not yet included in the list of television channels released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) authorized to broadcast the biggest continental football competition.
Angola Public Television (TPA) and the TV Girassol have already secured the rights to broadcast the Africa Cup of Nations, in a long list of TV rights holders from Africa, Europe, Asia, South America, North America and the Caribbean.
According to the CAF website, TV broadcasters include Sky and BBC (UK), LaLiga+ (Spain), SportItalia (Italy), Sport Digital (Germany and Switzerland), SportTV (Portugal), Viaplay (Nordics) and Band TV (Brazil).
This is followed by beIN Sport, CANAL+, New World TV and approximately 45 Free to Air broadcasters who have also signed their respective partnership agreements with CAF.
Angola are in group D with Algeria, Burkina Faso and Mauritania. The team face Algeria in their opening game.AMP
