Luanda - Sagrada Esperança coach, Roque Sapiri, said Saturday in Luanda that the team has taken a significant step towards qualifying for the group stage of the African Champions League, following a 3-0 home win against Seychelles’’ Saint Louis in the second leg.
Speaking in a post match press conference, the Sagrada Esperança coach said the team is now closer to its initial goal and that the difficulties encountered were predictable, however the team managed the first leg result well (1-0).
In the second knockout round, Sagrada Esperança face Nigeria’s Enugu on September 14 at their opponents' home.
Saint Louis coach Gavin Jeanne on his turn complained that his team had not participated in the event for eight years and that anxiety had affected their performance.
He said the team expected to overcome the 1-0 defeat they were inflicted at home, but Sagrada Esperança's experience played a crucial role in his team's defeat. JAD/MC/TED/AMP
