Luanda - Angolan delegation to the Region V games comprising 163 people, including athletes and officials are to travel Sunday to Lilongwe, Malawi, to participate in the Region V games from November 30 to December 13.
Angola will compete in the Olympic athletics and adapted athletics, basketball, soccer, gymnastics, judo, swimming, taekwondo and tennis tournaments.
ANGOP has learnt that the national football team will be the first to kick off the competition on December 2. The U-17 will face South Africa for the first round of Group B.
Angola will close the group stage on December 4 against Mauritius for the second round.
In taekwondo the national team’s athletes are Clinton Baptista (-62 kg), José Sozinho (-56 kg), Aminata Ngoma (-55 kg), Isabel Nlemvo (-62 kg), Luzia Madureira (-66 kg) and Marineth Fernandes (-49 kg).
The National Team will perform on the 28th the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam, reserved only for football players, in a clinic in Lilongwe, despite having already followed an identical procedure in one Angolan private medical assistance facility.
The MRI is a FIFA approved method, usually to determine the right age of the player.
