Luanda - The need for Region 5 to find other sources of financing, in addition to member revenues and Games quotas, was defended by the Finance Commission of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), led by Angola.
The fact was presented by the National Director of Sports, Nicolau Daniel, on the third day of the Region 5 Sports Development Forum, taking place in South Africa.
As part of the coordination of the Budget, Finance and Legal Affairs Committee, the Angolan leader stated Thursday, on Radio 5, that this vision aims to prevent the organization from depending solely on revenues from member countries and games in the region .
He explained that the measure also aims to mitigate some members issues in complying with their obligations.
He informed that during the event, the need for greater collaboration between the different committees was also highlighted, stressing the marketing committee, to create strategies and materialize this objective.
The last Region 5 Forum was held bkack in 2023, Livingstone, Zambia.
The SADC member states are Angola, Botswana, Comoros, DRC, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
