Caxito - Cyclist Dário António, from Interclube de Angola, is the winner of the third edition of the bicycle Tour to Angola “Alberto Silva Pepino”.
The winner won four of the 10 stages of the competition and won the race for the second consecutive time.
In second place was the athlete Bruno Araújo, from Interclube, and in third place the athlete Javouhey Clement, from the Club Cicliste Saint Louiseien team from France.
Speaking to the press, Dário António considered the competition very competitive and the victory the result of the hard work and good preparation of his team, Interclube de Angola.
In turn, the race director, Osvaldo Manuel, said that the tour was a greater success than expected and a very great acceptance at the level of the provinces through which it passed.
He pointed out that the participation of countries such as South Africa, DRC, Namibia, Nigeria, France, Zimbabwe and Congo gave a higher competitive level to the competition, stressing that the averages were very high compared to last year.
Meron Gebreyesus wins 8th stage in Bengo
The Eritrean Meron Gebreyesus won stage 8 of the Volta a Angola on Alberto Silva Pepino bicycle, with a time of 4 hours 28 minutes and 11 seconds.
The cyclist from the Petro de Luanda formation won the 180-kilometer stage that connected Nzeto (Zaire province) to Caxito (Bengo).
In second place was the cyclist Euclides Chingui, from ACT, and Hossana Jardel, from Petro de Luanda, occupied the last place on the podium, with similar times, according to the organization. CJ/PA/DOJ
