Luanda - The national women's football team beat Zimbabwe on Thursday, in Luanda, by 2-1, at the 22 de Junho stadium, in the first leg of the qualifiers for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON'2026), in Morocco.
As hosts, the Angola team took the lead, with an early goal from Ary, in the game's first minute, and the opponent equalized at (16') by Ruvimbo.
At (74') Ary scores the second and final goal for the National Team.
With this result, the Welwítschia (Angola Women team's nickname), have an advantage for the 2nd leg match, next Wednesday (26th), in Pretoria, South Africa, Zimbabwe's alternative ground.
Angola are fighting for their 3rd participation in the WAFCON class, after participation in 1995 and 2022, in Nigeria.
