According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) website, the governing body of football in Africa has decided to significantly increase the prize money as a way of elevating the sport to excellence.
For the group of teams through to the last 16 of the competition, which includes Angola, there has been a significant increase in prize money, with each receiving 800,000 US dollars.
The prize for the champion, according to the source, has risen to 7 million USD, compared to the 5 million that was awarded at the last edition held in 2023 in Cameroon, won by Senegal.
The runners-up will receive 5 million, while the four semi-finalists will each get 2.5 million US dollars.
The national teams that qualify for the quarter-finals will receive (1.3 million USD), a considerable increase on the 800,000 offered previously.
