Ondjiva - The director of the youth and sports office in Cunene province, Nelson Ndelimukuata, said Saturday that Angola's qualification for the quarter-finals of the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN`2023), by beating its counterpart of Namibia, 3-0, confirms the country's ascent on the continental scene.

In a statement to ANGOP, he indicated that the feeling is one of joy and great satisfaction, the result of hard work, where athletes demonstrated maturity and commitment to raising the name of Angola across the border.

He said that the performance of the Palancas Negras revives the expectations of the fans, whose results increase the confidence that the team will be able to reach the top three places in the general classification table, or even win the competition.

“Angola played a very interesting game and guaranteed confidence to win the championship, because despite the loss registered immediately after the goalkeeper´s red card, the athletes managed to stand their ground and turn the situation around”, he emphasized.

On the other hand, he appealed to all Angolans, to provide warmth and support to the national team.
