Luanda - Angolan striker Heno Guilherme was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in Angola's 4-0 win over Sierra Leone in Sunday's match Group D opener of the African Amputee Football Championship (AFCON), taking place in Cairo, Egypt.

In the match, played at the Petrol Sport Stadium, the striker, who represents Turkish club Izimir, scored the second of the four goals with which Angola beat Sierra Leone, while the other three goals came from Lucas Fungula, Paciência Félix and Pedro Vicente.

It is not the first time that the Angolan adapted football player is honoured with such a nomination since Angola made its debut in African and world championships.

Considered a determined player, he is one of the most emblematic of the country's adapted football, due to the quality of his style of play, characterised by his strength, speed, dribbling ability, shooting from close range and from afar.

The Angolan striker turned professional in 2019, signing for Turkish side Yeditepe, along with his compatriot Jesus Morais.

The player with a congenital malformation, who scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot that gave Angola the title at the 2018 World Cup in Mexico, began his career in 2011.

Three years later he was runner-up in the World Cup (Mexico 2014) and repeated it in 2022 in Turkey.

Heno Guilherme was part of the national team that won the 2019 Nations Cup in Benguela, Angola.

At the national level, he won the National Championship in 2015, the Angola Cup in 2015 and 2016, as well as three editions of the Lwini Foundation Cup between 2011 and 2016.

For the AFCON, which qualifies for the World Cup in 2026, the national team will face Tanzania on Tuesday (21) for the second round.
