Lubango - The inspectors of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) recommended Monday in Lubango City, southern Huila Province, the urgent placement of a tartan track and other small improvements to the Tundavala stadium to enable it to be authorised to host international competitions.
Another situation that should be addressed is the replacement of degraded mosaics and some pipes in the toilets, which are crucial for CAF to authorise the holding of international competitions.
The warning was given by CAF's head of high competition, Muhammad Sidat, who is leading a delegation of inspectors on a two-day working visit to Huila to assess the progress of work at the Tundavala Stadium, as well as the hotels and sanitation units.
However, Sidat congratulated the working team that is carrying out works on the stadium, stating that in order to pronounce himself on a provisional authorisation, he will have to wait for the tests that the CAF technicians will carry out on the quality of the turf.
Work began a fortnight ago at Tundavala Stadium to prepare the floor to receive the tartan track, which should only begin to be applied in the dry season, as the rains that often fall in Lubango could compromise the quality of the work, said the director of the provincial office for culture, tourism, youth and sports, Osvaldo Lunda.
According to the official, all work recommended by the CAF at the Tundavala Stadium is already underway so he believes that within two weeks they may be completed.
