Luanda - Angolan Bruno Fernando stood out again in the Atlanta Hawks' victory over the Boston Celtics, 120-118, in an NBA regular season game, played in the early hours of this Tuesday.
Playing against his former team (2021-22 season), the 25-year-old, 2.06m heigth power foward scored 13 points, made 3 rebounds and 3 assists in 18 minutes on the field, contributing to his team’s triumph after recovering from a deficit of 30 points.
Despite the defeat, the Celtics remain at the top of the Eastern Conference, with 57 wins and 15 losses, while the Hawks come in the 10th place, with 32 wins and 39 losses.
With four minutes remaining in the second quarter, the Boston Celtics led 68-38, but a virtually guaranteed result turned into the biggest turnaround of the season and in Hawks history.
The Atlanta team recovered throughout the match and managed to win, sealed with a three-pointer from De’Andre Hunter, with less than 10 seconds remaining.
On the Celtics side, Jayson Tatum, the scorer of the match, made 37 points.
Boston had won 20 of the last 22 games and had won nine (9) consecutive games.
To remind that Bruno Fernando, who came from from 1º de Agosto’s school, has performed unprecedented numbers since joining the NBA. In last week's 132-91 victory over the Charlotte Hornets, he scored 25 points.
