Luanda - Striker Ben Arfa, from Kabuscorp do Palanca, became top scorer in the National Football Championship “Girabola 2023-24”, with 15 goals, beating Tiago Azulão, triple winner (2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23).
In this 46th edition, the striker relegated striker Mussa, from Desportivo da Lunda Sul, to second place, with 14 accurate shots, while Brazilian Tiago Azulão, with 11, completed the podium.
At 23 years old, the Angolan is now on the list of youngest athletes in history to win the award, as well as becoming the team's second top scorer.
Ben Arfa surpassed former Congolese player Daniel Mpele Mpele, who scored 14 goals in his first year with the club, in 2010. Former Cameroon striker Albert Meyong, with 20 goals scored, is in first place as Kabuscorp's all-time top scorer in the 2013 season, and with 17 in 2014.
A graduate of Progresso Sambizanga, Ben Arfa represented clubs such as Steenberg United (South Africa), Bravos do Maquis do Moxico and 1.º de Agosto.
Luanda once again dominated in terms of scorers in this biggest national football competition. Amaral Aleixo twice (Sagrada Esperança), Maluca (1.º de Maio de Benguela), Mavó (Ferroviário da Huíla), André (Desportivo da Cuca), Serginho (Desportivo da EKA), Kabongo (Sonangol do Namibe), César Caná (Académica do Lobito) and Zé Neli (Petro do Huambo) stand out among the best scorers in the history of the competition representing clubs outside the country's capital.
In history, the record for top scorer in the 1st Division of the National Championship prevails with the former 1.º de Agosto striker, Carlos Alves, with 29 goals, 44 years later (1980). IN/MC/TED/DOJ
