Luanda - Interclube's senior female basketball team will be Angola's only representative at the FIBA African Women's Basketball League (AWBL), which will take place from 11 to 17 December in Cairo, Egypt.
Coached by Elisa Pires, the team will go into this competition with five reinforcements, namely Adrienne Godbold and Taylor Hosendave (posts) and Tyra Johnson (point guard), all Americans, plus Mozambican Ingvild Mucauro (point guard) and post Cristina Matiquite, as well as Nadir Manuel, Jessica Malagi, Sofia António and centre Italee Lucas.
Interclube are going into this continental competition with the aim of winning their sixth title.
To recall, Interclube has won the most titles in the competition, followed by Angola's 1º de Agosto and Senegal's Dakar UC with three each.
Alexandria Sporting Club (reigning champions), Interclube, Al Ahly Sporting Club, Kenya Port Authority, Rwanda Energy Group, Overdose Up Station and Université Douala (Cameroon) are the teams taking part in this championship.
