Luanda – Luanda's 1º de Agosto team won the Independence Cup in senior women's basketball with an 85-65 victory over Interclube, when everything pointed to a triumph for the latter, during the match held in Victorino Cunha pavilion in Luanda capital city.
Until the final whistle, 1º de Agosto only needed to have better management on the field to dethrone Interclube from the trophy that honours the celebrations of National Independence, marked on 11 November 1975.
With 22 points, the 1º de Agosto´s player Rosa Gala was the best scorer and Cássia António obtained 18 points.
The four-team tournament also aimed to prepare 1º de Agosto and Interclube for the African club basketball championship which is to take place in Maputo, Mozambique in December.
