Luanda - The first qualifying phase for the African Senior Women's Basketball Championship (Afrobasket-2025), scheduled for next November, will only take place next year, the Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB) reported Wednesday in Luanda Province.
The aforementioned phase was initially scheduled to be held from the 3rd to the 11th of November, in Luanda to qualify a team for Afrobasket-2025, taking place in Côte d'Ivoire.
The semi-finalists from the last edition, in Kigali, Rwanda, namely Nigeria, Senegal, Mali and Rwanda, are automatically qualified.
In a press release, published on its social networks, FAB thanked the involvement of the athletes called up for this event.
In this sense, the FAB dismissed the athletes and allowed them back to their respective clubs, so that they can continue with their activities.
It informs that the postponement was communicated by the African Basketball Confederation (FIBA - Africa).
Angola became champion in the 2011 editions of Afrobasket, held in Mali, and 2013, in Mozambique.
