Luanda – The Angolan swimmer N´hara Fernandes placed in the 33rd position, in the 50m breaststroke, with a time of 36min.39sec, among 43 competitors, in her debut this Tuesday at the 8th World Junior Swimming Championships 2022, that is taking place in Lima, Peru.
The champions of the Zone IV in that same specialty, even finished in the second position in her series (2), following the Peruvian Fiorella Paredes (36.32), but did not improve the time she had in Zambia (36.14) to get gold medal, last April.
With this record, which marks her first appearance in a world event, the athlete was far from the 16 places of access to the final.
N´hara Fernandes will compete again on Wednesday, in the 100m freestyle.
Another Angolan in the competition was the swimmer Nyrian Morais who ranked 48th in the overall results in 100m backstroke with a mark of 1:15.85, out of 52 competitors.
In her series, she obtained sixth place, lagging more than two seconds compared to her previous mark (1:13.75).
The national record holder competes again on Wednesday in the 100m freestyle.
In men´s competition, Alex Fortes took 41st place as he went 100m backstroke with a time of 1:07.75, in a race that involved 43 swimmers.

This is the first time in the last five years that Angola is participating in a World Championship with a team composed entirely of athletes who play in domestic championships.
