Luanda – Angolan under-18 Fide Master Ednásia Júnior obtained the third win after beating Cape Verdean specialist Aires Forte on Tuesday.
The victory follows the fifth round competed at the Cape Verde Chess Open, underway in Saõ Vicente Island.
With this result, Ednasia ranks 10th with three points, in a competition that takes place in the Swiss system.
The Angolan athlete tackles Wednesday the Venezuela’s International Master Carolina Tilsia in the sixth round of the competition.
Another Angolan International Master Esperança Caxita, three times African junior champion, lost to Portuguese chess player Paulo Ferreira.
In five rounds, Caxita won two games, the same number of defeats and one draw. The athlete faces the Cape Verdean Luís Pina in the sixth round.
Thirty-four chess players, from nine countries, are taking part in the competition.
