Luanda – The Angolan pairs in both sexes debuted with wins in the first day of the 2nd Edition of the Beach Volleyball International Tournament, which began Friday in Luanda island.
The female pair Sónia/Alice beat Mozambique’s Vanessa and Ângela by 2-0. The other nationals, Nelma/Vinguila, beat their Namibians counterparts, Piroska/Vandorn, by 2-0.
Out of the 24 pairs that are registered, in the first day only 16 competed, while the other eight are scheduled to play on Saturday (25) in the morning.
The competition is being disputed in the round-robin tournament system.
On Saturday afternoon, the quarter-finals will be played, in the event that brought together competitors from Mozambique, Namibia and Norway, plus the hosts.
The first edition of this tournament was won by Mozambique (in males), while Morocco took up the trophy in females category.
The 2nd Edition of the Beach Volleyball International Tournament is intended to mark the 449th foundation anniversary of Luanda City, commemorated on 25th January.
