Luanda – The National Senior Women's Handball Team on Tuesday, in Luanda Province, focused their training session on physical endurance test, in the province of Luanda, for participation in the African Championship, scheduled to happen from the 27th of this month to the 7th of December, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Speaking to ANGOP, the assistant coach, Nelson Catito, said that for two hours, at the Paulo Bunze Pavilion, the group, made up of 18 athletes, carried out several exercises to observe their robustness.
He explained that the work is also reserved for tactical aspects, with a view to putting together a team worthy for the African competition, where the country is fighting to revalidate the title, won in 2022, in Senegal.
The team's preparation continues on Wednesday, in the Academy gym (4pm).
Angola are expected to do undergo a training programme, starting on the 14th, in France.
The summoned players are Marta Alberto, Eliane Paulo, Helena de Sousa (goalkeepers), Donana Epalanga, Liliane Mário and Estefânia Venâncio (pivots), Marcela Tati and Nairia Caquintas (left wingers), Balbina Nunda and Márcia Manuel (right wingers), Regina Santos and Chelcia Gabriel (centers), Bernadeth Belo, Marília Quizelete and Vilma Nenganga (left backcourt), Juliana Machado, Dolores Rosário and Suzeth Matias (right backcourt).
Angola have 15 trophies and are the most titled squad on the continent. Since 1992, the Angolan team only lost the cup in 2014, to Tunisia.
