Luanda – Angola U-18 men's basketball team conceded a 54-79 defeat to Mali on Sunday and finished in the fourth position of the African Basketball Championship "Afrobasket", held in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
Angola missed the goal of equaling or improving the third position achieved in 2020.
Angola won four times the Afrobasket championship namely in 1980, 1982, 1988 and 2016 editions.
Egypt are the champions of this year’s edition after beating Madagascar by 81-54 in the final adding to six the number of trophies won by the team in 1977, 1984, 2008, 2010, 2014 and 2022.
In the women's category, Angola finished in the third position after beating Madagascar 53-37, while Mali defeated Egypt 86-54 in the final to be crowned champions of the Afrobasket championship.
