Luanda - Angola climbed three places in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) rankings, now occupying the 32nd position out of 160 countries, after the conclusion of the Paris2024 Olympic Games in France.
With this result, Angola, which was absent from the last four editions of the Olympic Games (2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024), added 386.0 points and remains in third place on the continent's list, updated on August 10.
South Sudan is the African leader (23rd with 481.0), followed by Côte d'Ivoire (31st with 392.3).
As regards to Portuguese-speaking countries, the Angolans (African champions) are second, behind Brazil (12th with 673.7).
In September 2023, Angola climbed seven places after finishing 26th in the 19th edition of the World Championships jointly organized by the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
