Luanda - Angola confirmed its rise to the top of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) rankings after winning three gold medals and the same number of silver medals at the international tournament held in Podgorica, Montenegro.
According to a statement of the Angola Mixed Martial Arts Federation, the national men and women teams return to the country on Wednesday.
The gold medals were won by Anderson Gouveia, who beat Lazar Radonjic, from Montenegro, in the 93kg category.
Manzo Diatuka beat host Nikola Kukulicic in the 77kg category and Joveth Santana defeated Petar Klikovac, also from Montenegro, in the 83kg category.
Daniela Mandanji, Isaac Manuel and Manaceu Ngonda won silver medals.
In addition to the sporting results, the event was also marked by an important tribute from the MMA International Federation to Angolan Armando Carlos Diogo ‘Scott’.
The President of the Angolan Mixed Martial Arts Federation was recognized for the exceptional work he has done, both worldwide and in Africa, and as a key figure in the growth of MMA in Angola, Africa and the world. MC/TED/AMP
