Luanda - The National Adapted Athletics Team returns to the city of Marrakech (Morocco) to compete from April 21st to 29th to qualify for the Paralympic Games in Paris, France, in August/September this year.

This is the third time that Angola participates in this same event, on Moroccan soil. In his participation in March 2023 he won eleven medals, four of which were gold, and in September 2022 he won seven medals, with two gold highlights.

For the endeavor, the national coach, José Manuel, called up 12 athletes.

These are sprinters Juliana Moko (Benguela), Emilide Adelino (Huíla), Regina Dumbo (Huambo), Beatriz Catiavala (Cuanza-Norte), all from the T11 class (total blindness).

The group also includes athletes from class T13 (partial blindness) Paulão Adelino (Namibe), José Pacheco (Moxico), Oliveira André and Salvador Micolo (the last two from Malange).

Manuel Jaime from Cuanza-Sul, class T46 (upper limb amputee), Domingos Paulo (Uíge) and Maria Fernandes (Huambo), as well as Sabino Bembua, from Bié, class T47 (athletes with arm amputations below the elbow).

The group is also made up of four guides: Abel Santos (Cuanza-Sul), Abrão Sapalo (Benguela), Adão Soares (Malange) and José Hingobe (Namibe).

During the track competition, the country will compete in the distances of 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1500 meters.

According to the program, the group also has on its agenda to participate in the World Championship, scheduled for August 8th to 15th this year, in Kobe, Japan.

The national match takes place on March 3rd and begins preparations for the following day, at the Coqueiros stadium, in Luanda. JAD/MC/CF/DOJ
