Luanda - Angola was recognised by the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, during the organisation´s congress, for the level of development and sporting results in African and world competitions.

At the extraordinary congress, held on Wednesday night (2 October), on the sidelines of the World Championship, held in the United Arab Emirates, it was decided that Angola will become a permanent member of the governing body of the sport in the world as from 2023.

 

According to the president of the Angolan Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Luís John, this achievement should happen at the next meeting of the organization to be held in Mongolia.

 

The country has been notable in world championships, international tournaments and African championships both in Brazilian and traditional Jiu-Jitsu.

 

Currently, the National Team are participating in the World Championship in Abu Dhabi.

 

At the event, in which the national squad are participating with 32 athletes, Angola already won five medals, one gold, two silver and an equal number of bronze.
