Luanda - The Angolan national basketball team lost 67-75 to the Dominican Republic on Tuesday in Manila, Philippines, in the third and final game of the initial phase of group A of the World Championship taking place in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
In a game played at the Araneta Coliseum pavilion the Angolan Sílvio Sousa was the top scorer with 19 points. He was followed by Bruno Fernando with 13 points, Gerson Domingos (12) and Jilson Bango (11), while the Dominicans had Andres Feliz as their top scorer with 17 points, followed by Victor Liz (13).
With this defeat, for the time being Angola occupy the second place with four points, followed by Italy (3) and the Philippines (2). The group is led by the Dominican Republic, undefeated with six points.
The two best teams from each of the four groups go through to the next round.
